Go Confidently In The Direction Of Your Dreams

Hi!

I feel like I don't even know where to begin on what all has happened over the MONTHS since I've posted. So I will randomly share stuff. Might be relevant, irrelevant, or completely out there. But that's not any different from how it was before.

In the last three and a half months my time has been completely consumed by spending time with my tiny human when I am not working. She is my sun now, and my existence is for her. Don't get me wrong. I do things alone, and  for myself, but spending time with her is more therapeutic than a million blog posts and a thousand hours of sketching.

She can almost sit on her own. She can roll front to back and back to front. She is lazy and won't roll unless it's absolutely necessary. She loves to lay on her side and play with her feet. She is now eating solids. So far this is what she has had:
sweet potato (likes)
apples (loves)
carrots (HATES)
chicken (likes)
apricots (LOVELOVELOVES!)
We can only get her to eat carrots if they are mixed with apricots. She loves chicken mixed with apples, apricots or sweet potatoes. Watching her eat has to be one of my favorite things. Her expressions can be priceless! This week we hope to add peas to her repertoire and maybe one other item. I make all her food at home and am shocked that more people don't. I know it's a matter of preference, but it seriously only takes a couple hours every few weeks to make a TON of food for her.

Her "speech"/vocal skills are unparalleled (IMO). She is finding new consonant sounds all the time. A couple weeks ago she found the BL combo and for a whole weekend all she said was "blah blah blah..." As of now she has found the following consonant sounds: B, D, G, H, L, M. She can also raz people with her tongue out. So hilarious.

Now about me. Collin and I are working (slowly but surely) towards our first post pregnancy race. We are doing the Zombie Run 5k in August and we can't wait! I am super excited. Collin doesn't seem as excited as me, but that's okay. I'm going to have fun.

In other large developments: I changed jobs! Collin and I are now working for the same company in different departments. I couldn't say no to the offer of better pay, better benefits, and MORE time off. Right now the commute kind of sucks, but at least we can ride together. Work is on the opposite side of town from where we live... Like 20 miles away... Naturally the offer came RIGHT AFTER we resigned our lease where we live now, but oh well. New job, plus moving, plus finding a new daycare for Emma would have been WAY too much.

Next year we plan to buy over on the work side of town. I am already lightly looking into daycare options over here. By then Emma will be over a year old, I'm hoping that will make it easier to find an opening.

For my first official mother's day, Collin and Emma got me a KitchenAid Professional 600 Series stand mixer. I am totally in love with it, well him. I have named him Gandalf the Grey because he is a kitchen wizard! So far I have made cookies and muffins, and I am sure there are plenty more nomilicious things to come.

I recently purchased two e-cookbooks for making freezer meals. There are a ton of recipes in there that I like so I am thinking when this month of dinner plans, I am going balls out and making a ton of this stuff. We, luckily, have a chest freezer in the garage. If I can spend one day just cooking my ass off and have months of work week dinners done, I am all for it! I will try to post about this adventure as it goes.

I do not know what the future holds, but I don't plan to leave you all hanging in suspense for so long this time.

This post's title is one of my favorite quotes - author Henry David Thoreau.
